Universe: Hic Sunt Dracones is a space exploration game created for MS-DOS.

Set out into an immense procedurally generated universe where every new game is different. Discover star systems, planets and moons, navigate asteroid fields, find abandoned stations and encounter strange phenomena hidden in deep space.

There is no prescribed route and no need to rush toward a final destination. Explore unknown worlds, scan planets, gather resources, upgrade your ship and simply follow whatever catches your attention.

The universe can be beautiful, strange and dangerous. Pulsars, black holes, wormholes, comets and other anomalies may be waiting beyond the next system - along with things you have yet to discover.

The journey is the destination.

Universe: Hic Sunt Dracones is designed as a relaxing game of exploration, played at your own pace. It is a new game made for real MS-DOS hardware and DOS emulators, and the first in my personal series of “games I wish I had when I was a child.”

Known Issues & Notes

• Depending on the procedural generation, a new game may occasionally start near a star system without planets, with no green navigation arrow initially visible. This can make the beginning considerably more challenging. You can either explore until a navigation arrow appears, or start a new game if you prefer an easier start.
• The browser version may occasionally suffer from minor audio glitches or crackling, depending on the device and browser. This does not affect gameplay.
